Looking to save money while making your home or business more energy efficient? The New Mexico Energy Conservation and Management (ECAM) Division is a one-stop shop for Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) rebates and tax credits available to New Mexicans.
Qualified homes and businesses must apply through the ECAM website prior to receiving approval and coupons for rebate programs. Improvements include window and door replacements, insulation upgrades, heat pump installations, and select appliance replacements.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has published its Draft Sitewide Environmental Impact Statement (SWEIS) for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) assessing current and future impacts of the Lab’s operations.
The SWEIS will be available for public review and comment beginning, Jan. 10, 2025, for 60 days.
The SWEIS analyzes the potential environmental impacts of LANL operations for approximately the next 15 years.

Traffic Advisory Jan. 14 For Golf Course Renovation Project

As part of the Golf Course Renovation Project, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 the Los Alamos County Public Works Department will close the westbound outer lane and shoulder of Diamond Drive at the golf course. Crews will be moving a fabricated restroom building.
No impact on commute time is expected for drivers heading to the middle school. However, those traveling to the high school may face some traffic delays.
Residents and visitors are urged to use caution and observe the traffic control devices to safely navigate this detour.

A water transmission line burst around noon today on N.M. 4 near White Rock.

ALBUQUERQUE — A new genus and species of ’demon-toothed’ prehistoric fish that lived more than 300 million years ago was uncovered in Socorro County by a research associate from the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science.
In December, a paper published in ‘Contributions from the Museum of Paleontology, University of Michigan’ identifies the newly discovered genus and species as Daemodontiscus harrisae. The full paper is available here.

SANTA FE — The recent snowfall provided an opportunity for Jemez Ranger District fire crews to complete the 7-acre Hill Prescribed Pile Burn Unit, located off Forest Road 376. Fire resources will now focus on patrolling and monitoring this unit.
