Reminder: Los Alamos Golf Course Is Closed For Winter

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Golf Course would like to remind citizens that the course is closed for play for the winter.

Walking onto any part of the course to play golf during the winter closure is not permissible.

Additionally, the grass is dormant, and playing could cause damage to the root system that staff have worked tirelessly to establish over the past year.

NNSA Renews University Consortium Grant For Research & Development Into Nuclear Science, Engineering, Security

NNSA News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) announced a $25 million grant to a University of California, Berkeley-led consortium of nine universities and six National Laboratories for research and development (R&D) in nuclear science, engineering, and security.

This long-term investment will support the consortium at $5 million per year for five years. The grant, awarded for the fourth time to a UC-Berkeley-led consortium, follows the announcement of a funding opportunity issued in November 2024.

PEEC Invites Community To Support Annual Seed Drive

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is teaming up once again with the Los Alamos Public Library to support the Los Alamos Community Seed Library (LACSL) during this year’s winter seed drive.

Community members are encouraged to donate seeds all winter long at either library location or at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
