LAFD Responds To Two Campfires Burning At Camp May
LAFD News:
Los Alamos County Deputy Chief Steve Dawald told the Los Alamos Daily Post that LAFD responded to two fire calls Saturday at Camp May.
The first call pertained to campfire left burning unattended.
The second call involved a campfire burning with day campers around it.
Dawald said that both fires were extinguished and the day campers at the second fire were notified that fires are not allowed at this time.
Fire danger is very high and Baseline Fire Restrictions went into effect May 8.
The following are NOT ALLOWED:
- Outdoor smoking in except designated areas.
- Use of fireworks is prohibited

The coronavirus pandemic has New Mexico anglers posting questions all over the Internet and on Facebook looking for a place to wet a line and catch some fish.
This Memorial Day weekend some of the most popular waters remain closed, while others have just been recently opened after being closed for over a month.
The Weekly Fish and Stocking Report published by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish no longer reports fishing conditions at specific waters throughout the state.

Animal Protection Voters Laws & Paws Event Goes Online

What does a nonprofit organization do when a global pandemic prevents them from hosting their annual fundraiser in-person?
New Mexico’s only statewide legislative advocacy group dedicated to animal protection issues, Animal Protection Voters (APV), decided to pivot and host their second annual Laws & Paws event online.
Rather than the two-hour event held previously at APV’s Santa Fe office, the event now spans several weeks, culminating Friday, June 12, and anyone across the state can attend.
The event schedule includes highlights such as:

Ducklings Continue Lifting Spirits At Ashley Pond
Priscilla Lepsch spotted 14 ducklings Monday at Ashley Pond, which have been lifting spirits all over town. The mama duck is named Blue because of the blue on her wings.
