WASHINGTON, D.C. — During the exceptionally warm Arctic summer of 2019, Greenland lost 600 billion tons of ice, enough to raise global sea levels by 2.2 millimeters in two months, according to new research.

On the opposite pole, Antarctica continued to lose mass in the Amundsen Sea Embayment and Antarctic Peninsula but saw some relief in the form of increased snowfall in Queen Maud Land, in the eastern part of the continent.

County Update: Public Works Ready To Roll With Snow Patrol

COUNTY News:

Public Works “ready to roll” if snow storm hits Los Alamos overnight; No reduction in snow patrols because of COVID-19

Los Alamos County Public Works Director Anne Laurent said that crews will be “ready to roll” in implementing the Snow & Ice Control Plan for the County if weather predictions for snow occur today and Thursday.

“We’ll have our Traffic & Streets crews out on major roadways, clearing snow and keeping streets open for travel,” Laurent said. “It will be ‘business as usual’ for crews in the event of any snow storm. We aren’t going to reduce our level of service.”

EPA Expands COVID-19 Disinfectant List

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released an expanded list of EPA-registered disinfectant products that have qualified for use against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
