NMED Issues Notice Of Violation To San Juan Oil And Gas Producer For Air Quality Control Act Violations

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has issued a Notice of Violation to Hilcorp Energy Company for violations of the state’s Air Quality Control Act. NMED joins the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in putting Hilcorp on notice for these violations.

Weather Experts Call Windstorm ‘Bomb Cyclone’

SANTA FE — New Mexico experienced an unprecedented weather pattern this past week designated by weather experts as a “bomb cyclone.”

The storm caused extensive damage in several counties throughout the state. Interstate 25 was temporarily closed due to the risks of high-profile vehicles. Reports of 80-100 mile-an-hour winds were reported throughout the state.

The winds were so powerful they caused a freight train to be derailed off a truss bridge near Logan, falling approximately 50 feet into an arroyo causing complete destruction of the train and cargo.

WASHINGTON, D.C. The U.S. Forest Service has announced that it is signing the Record of Decision for the Prince of Wales Landscape Level Analysis Project today, March 16.
 
The project entails widespread old-growth clearcutting on the largest island in our nation’s largest forest. In 2016, the USFS committed to a transition out of old-growth logging and away from uneconomical and destructive timber sales like this proposal.

NM 4 Has Reopened

Traffic Alert Update:

N.M. 4 has reopened to traffic.

A stretch of the roadway was closed Wednesday due to an extremely high volume of downed trees that continued to fall and pose a severe public safety risk as a result of high winds.

The County reminds motorists to continue to use caution when traveling the roadway and to watch for fallen trees and icy conditions. Read More

Canceled: Trails Workshop Due To Weather Closure

SANTA FE – The Greater Santa Fe Trails Planning Workshop scheduled for tonight at the Santa Fe Community College is canceled because the college is closed due to road closures and weather.

The workshop was for trail enthusiasts, businesses, landowners, user groups and anyone else interested in developing a comprehensive, sustainable plan for trails in the Santa Fe area.

The Greater Santa Fe Recreation Partnership will reschedule the workshop in the near future. Read More
