Rabid Fox Bites Homeowner In Las Vegas, N.M.

LAS VEGAS, NM – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish reports that Saturday, Conservation Ofc. Justin Hepler responded to a call from a Las Vegas homeowner who was bitten by a fox she believed was starving when she attempted to feed it.

After meeting with the bite victim at a local hospital, the officer learned the fox had jumped into a parked vehicle and began eating insulation on the door and chewing on a hammer handle. The homeowner admitted to offering the fox a bowl of dog food when it bit her on the wrist and hand, leaving several puncture wounds on both arms. Read More

Southwest Nordic Ski Club and Ski Kids group began the season with the Thanksgiving Nordic Ski Camp in Crested Butte, Colo.

More than 50 people from the club went up for the events with 18 adults taking clinics, nine Ski Kids in the kids camp and three Ski Kids in the junior training camp.

Valles Caldera National Preserve Reopens Today!

JEMEZ SPRINGS – Valles Caldera National Preserve will reopen the main gate and entrance station and resume normal winter hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Jan. 27.

Cross-country skiers and snowshoers are invited to be among the first to break snow in the preserve’s 1.5 to 4 feet of snow.

The Coyote Call and Valle Grande trails will remain closed until the parking areas can be plowed for safe parking.
