Lindsay Gibson and Zach Medin tied for best prediction at 18 seconds off in the weekly pace race Aug. 21 in the Quemazon Complex.
 
Other accurate predictors were: Anders Medin, 8, with a 24 second differential, Luke Gibson, 6, and Roxana Candia who also was the first female finisher on the 1 mile course recording a 9:41 at 39 seconds off, Adrian Medin, 7, and Aaron Jackson tied at 42 seconds off, and Levi Gibson, 8, recording a 60 second difference as well as the top finisher on the 1 mile course with a time of 8:40.

Udall, Heinrich, Luján Announce $1.48 Million For Los Alamos Electric Buses

CONGRESSIONAL News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded Los Alamos Atomic City Transit $1.485 million through the Low or No Emission Grant Program to purchase new zero-emission battery electric buses to replace the City’s existing diesel fleet.

Atomic City Transit offers transit service in both Los Alamos and White Rock, ADA complementary paratransit, and a shuttle service to Bandelier National Monument during peak visitor season.

ALBUQUERQUE The Bureau of Land Management is announcing that Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is open after being closed due to severe weather damage to the access road, trails and facilities.  
 
The Monument has undergone intensive road maintenance and reconstruction of trail segments, and is now open for visitation.

The big news for local anglers in Northern New Mexico is the re-opening today of the Canjilon Lakes for fishing.
 
The Lakes have been closed to fishing for several years as the Forest Service cleared out dead trees that posed a hazard for campers and anglers. The lakes were also dredged to make them deeper and capable of carrying over trout through the winter.
