Eco Station And Overlook Convenience Center Closed For Thanksgiving Holiday Nov. 23 And Nov. 24
COUNTY News:
The Eco Station and Overlook Convenience Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving.
There will be no residential or commercial trash and recycling collection service provided Thursday, Nov. 23 or Friday, Nov. 24.
Residents whose normal trash day falls on one of those days should place their materials out Wednesday, Nov. 22. Read More

By CHICK KELLER, CuratorFirst – a weed to me is any group of plants growing where you don’t want them, or crowding out other more desirable plants.
Second – not all weeds are invaders from other places. Most are natives.
Third – these are very important plants for restoring disturbed areas. I call them nature’s “first responders”. They are almost all annuals (must grow from seeds each year as last year’s die and don’t come back).

Small Prescribed Burn Planned In Santa Fe Watershed To Restore Forest Health, Reduce Risk Of Wildfire

SANTA FE — Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) are planning to take advantage of unseasonably favorable conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality, forecasted winds and weather, to conduct a one-day prescribed burn Thursday in the Santa Fe Watershed.
The 248-acre treatment area is approximately 4 miles east of the City of Santa Fe on the east end of the McClure Reservoir and adjacent to the western boundary of the Pecos Wilderness.
