SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department’s (NMED) Drinking Water Bureau is confirming that the Artesia Municipal Water System has met the requirements to lift the “boil water advisory” for the Artesia Municipal Water System and Morningside Water Users Cooperative located in Eddy County.

Coyote Ranger District Plans Prescribed Burns

SANTA FE  Fire managers on the Coyote Ranger District, Santa Fe National Forest, hope to take advantage of favorable conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and forecasted weather, to conduct previously announced prescribed burns sometime between Sept. 26 and Dec. 31, 2017.
 
Fire managers are looking at three targets for fall burning on the Coyote District:
  • French Mesa treatment area, 5,041 acres located approximately 10 miles north of Gallina

Prescribed Fire Planned In Gallinas Canyon

SFNF News:

Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest plan to conduct a prescribed burn in Gallinas Canyon on the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District. The planned burn will include a combination of pile burning and broadcast burning.

The window for the Gallinas Canyon prescribed burn will open Sept. 28 and extend through Dec. 31, 2017. The decision to burn will be dependent on favorable conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality, weather forecasts, and available resources.

The 800-acre Gallinas Canyon treatment area is located approximately 20 miles west/southwest of Las Vegas. Read More

Los Alamos National Laboratory announces its application to the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) for an air quality permit for the modification of its Technical Area (TA) 3 Power Plant facility.
 
The permit number associated with the TA-3 Power Plant facility is 2195B-M2. The net effect of this modification will result in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and provide a reliable and sustainable heat and electric supply to support the Laboratory.
