Oversized Crane Transport On NM502 Through Downtown To Los Alamos Ice Rink July 2

COUNTY News:
As part of the project to install a new chiller at the Los Alamos Ice Rink, a 140-ton crane and one tractor-trailer will be traveling through Downtown Los Alamos on route to the Ice Rink on West Road between 9 a.m. and noon, Wednesday July 2.
Due to its weight the crane and the tractor-trailer cannot cross the Omega Bridge and therefore will be traveling up the Main Hill on NM502/East Rd, then through Trinity Dr. to Diamond Dr. before turning onto West Rd. to the Ice Rink. If needed, the Los Alamos Police Department will provide escorts to the crane on its way up NM502 and travel through downtown. Read More

In states like New Mexico many were pleased to have new attractions for their budding tourism trade, but others objected.
Unlike national forests, these new carve-outs didn’t allow grazing, mining, drilling or logging. I came across this information last week while I was researching Read More

New Mexico’s vast landscape — from the San Augustin Plains to the Gila Wilderness and the Bosque through Valencia and Bernalillo counties — has always been vulnerable to wildfires. Fires are a natural part of Western ecology.
But things are changing. Fire season now starts earlier and lasts longer as climate Read More
