Española Mayor John Ramon Vigil announced the appointment of Eric J. Lujan as the city’s new City Manager.
Lujan is a former Chief Deputy County Treasurer for Santa Fe County, and previously worked at the New Mexico Department of Transportation. More recently he worked as a financial consultant for government clients in New Mexico.
“Eric’s wealth of financial management is a great benefit for the city,” Vigil said, “he will be able to review and improve our financial processes, and lead and train staff.”
The City began searching for a new top executive after the former City Manager’s contract was not renewed. The position was advertised locally and nationally. A committee comprised of the mayor and two city councilors interviewed the top two finalists and recommended Lujan for a second interview. The second interview was held Monday, Sept. 25, and Lujan was appointed at the regular city council meeting Sept. 26.
