Under general direction of City Manager Eric J. Lujan, this position is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive range of programs and services that impact the quality of life of all City residents in areas including mental health, public health, child welfare, elderly, disability, and other human services for the City.
Notably, City Manager Lujan has initiated efforts to form a homelessness task force coalition, which will include representatives from Rio Arriba and Santa Fe Counties, as well as the Pueblos of Ohkay Owingeh and Santa Clara. This collaborative approach ensures that the City’s social concerns are addressed comprehensively and effectively. Mayor Vigil’s proactive stance and strategic planning demonstrate a commitment to improving the well-being of the community and leveraging resources for the betterment of all residents.
