EAA News:
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 691 is planning a one-day Young Eagles Workshop for kids ages 11-17, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11 at the Los Alamos Airport Terminal Building.
The goal of the workshop is to introduce kids to the world of aviation and the opportunities that await them. Experts will be teaching the kids about how airplanes fly and how they are controlled. The kids also will learn about various forms of navigation and how pilots communicate with each other and Air Traffic Control. They will learn how aircraft are built and will each get to build a wooden rib for a wing.
The workshop will consist of presentations, demonstrations and hands-on activities. There will be no plane rides given at the Workshop, but there is plans for a Young Eagles Rally later in the year where kids can taket a ride.
The March 11 workshop is free. Kids will need to bring their own lunch, but drinks and snacks will be provided. Parents are encouraged to participate as well.
Preregistration is required to attend this event. Parents may email Walt Atchison, wla116920@gmail.com or Will Fox, tailspinfox@gmail.com to register and obtain the necessary permission forms.
