Recently my wife and I had to call 911 because our infant daughter was having a medical emergency. The response by Los Alamos Fire Department (and the community in general) was nothing short of exemplary.
The genuine concern, professionalism, and sub-3-minute response by LAFD helped the recovery of my daughter and provided assurance to my wife and me that we were in good hands. This outstanding response continued when we were transported to UNM hospital in Albuquerque.
The community came out to help during this time as well. Neighbors came over to take care of our cat. Others took down and folded laundry we had left out on the line. Coworkers offered to drive stuff from our house down to Albuquerque, offered to bring us food, and even offered to get us a hotel next to UNM so we could get a shower and a nap.
Thank you to everyone involved. We are truly grateful to live in such an excellent community with a world-class fire department and caring neighbors and coworkers.
Our daughter is back to her normal happy, giggling self.
