ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced Dec. 21 that Courtney Frank was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Frank, of Shiprock, an enrolled member of Navajo Nation, pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter Sept. 14, 2023.

According to court documents, Sept. 28, 2022, 19-year-old Frank was intoxicated when she drove a car over the center line of a country road in Shiprock and struck an oncoming car head-on. The other driver survived the initial impact but died at the scene. The decedent’s son was also injured in the wreck. Frank’s BAC was .327.

Upon her release from prison, Frank will be subject to three years of supervised release.

The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department and Department of Criminal Investigations and the New Mexico State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Zachary C. Jones is prosecuting the case.
