SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) announced today that all K-12 educators, early childhood (EC) professionals, and staff will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccine beginning today, March 8.
In keeping with a White House directive, the state will offer first shots to these groups over an approximately three-week period, as follows:
- Week 1 (beginning today): Educators and EC professionals outside the Albuquerque metro area;
- Week 2 (beginning March 15): Educators and EC professionals within the Albuquerque metro area, likely at a mass vaccination site;

Second Member Of New Mexico State Police And National Guard State Capitol Security Detail Tests Positive For COVID

A second member of the New Mexico State Police and National Guard security detail at the state Capitol has tested positive for COVID-19.
“The individual who tested positive was not working inside the Capitol,” Raúl E. Burciaga, director of the New Mexico Legislative Council Service, wrote in an email Saturday.
Burciaga said contact tracing and appropriate isolation and quarantine measures have been taken.
The positive test result emerged among 93 people tested Friday by the state Department of Health. Another case is pending results.

SANTA FE – New Mexico Public Education Secretary Ryan Stewart announced today that effective immediately, spectators will be permitted at all school-related sports to the extent allowed by the current Public Health Order under the limits applicable to large entertainment venues.
This means that schools may allow spectators as follows:
Turquoise Counties:
- Up to 75% capacity of an outdoor spectator area
- Up to 33% capacity of an indoor spectator area
Green Counties:
- Up to 50% capacity of an outdoor spectator area

Los Alamos County Library System will re-open with a combination of curbside and walk-in service starting Monday, March 8 at Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library.
- Walk-in service hours are 2-6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
- Curbside service hours are 2-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
