The Family YMCA has held an annual 4th of July Family Fun Run, called the “Firecracker 5K” since 1999, and this year’s will be the 21st event, but in a modified format.
While the Y cannot hold their traditional 5K due to health concerns, in support of healthy living and social responsibility, the Y this year will host its first ever Virtual Firecracker 5K Family Fun June 28 to July 4.

LA Cares Volunteers Prepare Food Bags For Local Residents
Volunteer June Gladney places items into boxes Wednesday afternoon in preparation for distribution this morning to Los Alamos residents. The food items are distributed the second Friday of the month and the Thursday before. Pickup times are 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday. The food bags and boxes are picked up in a drive by fashion in the parking lot of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on North Road. County Boards And Commissions Begin Meetings June 10
COUNTY News:
Two of Los Alamos County’s Boards and Commissions will begin using video-conferencing software to hold online meetings this week. Other Boards & Commissions meetings may resume later in June.
