Bandelier Begins Increasing Access To Frijoles Canyon

BANDELIER News:

Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, Bandelier National Monument is increasing recreational access to Frijoles Canyon.

SANTA FE – Like many other areas on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF), the 6.7-mile Rio en Medio Trail #163 about 14 miles north of downtown Santa Fe has surged in popularity as people seek relief from quarantine by taking to the woods.

Jury Trials In Criminal; Civil Cases To Resume In New Mexico

SANTA FE — Jury trials can resume starting next month subject to approval by the New Mexico Supreme Court of plans by courts for protecting the public health and safety as courthouse operations expand.

An order issued today by the Supreme Court lifts the suspension on jury trials in criminal and civil cases that has been in place since March. Courts may resume jury trials between June 15 and July 15.

SANTA FE – The Office of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced this morning that the first round of voting has opened for New Mexico Mask Madness, a statewide competition intended to highlight the creativity and artistic ability of New Mexicans amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Temporary Restricted Use Of LA Mesa Trail To Benefit Aspen Ridge Residents During COVID-19 Pandemic

Los Alamos County Community Services announced this morning that beginning Friday, May 29, a portion of the LA Mesa Trail near the eastern edge of Los Alamos will be reserved for use only by Aspen Ridge residents.

This restriction on the trail use will allow Aspen Ridge residents the opportunity to walk on this trail while still isolating from others. The reservation of the trail will occur 8-11 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation (LACDC) has purchased limited amounts of personal protective equipment (PPE) to donate to small businesses located in Los Alamos County.
