Letter To The Editor: A Better Health Care Payment System
By TED TRUSKEIt’s strange that a five second sound bite, “I will kill Obamacare” can drive national policies. Finally President Trump admits, “health care is complicated”. So GOP members contort themselves to make magic happen, so far unsuccessfully. They dispute the CBO’s numbers because they’re not happily magical.
Why doesn’t the public have whatever health plan Congress has? If it’s good enough for Congress we in the public could live with it.
In 2010 T.R. Reid wrote a best seller called “The Healing of America”, one would expect that members Read More

Los Alamos
So, I wore a fruit hat.
It was made of artificial fruit and I was going for that Carmen Miranda look, and folks at the party were kind enough to humor me in that regard. I wore the fruit hat to the Family YMCA Red and Black Ball last Saturday night, so there are lots of witnesses and I can’t pretend it didn’t happen.
The theme for the event was “Havana Nights” and for some reason I thought, “Carmen Miranda!” Although as it turns out, Carmen was born in Portugal and was Read More

By ELENA E. GIORGI Dear Governor and dear Representatives who voted against the resolution that would’ve allowed teachers to take more than 3 sick days without penalty, let me ask you: how many times did you take a sick day this past year? How many times did you have to assist a sick family member, whether a child, a spouse, or an elderly parent? And all this when you hold a position that doesn’t keep you inside a classroom five days a week. Along with train stations and public places, schools are the primary route for the spread of infectious diseases Read More
