Los Alamos High School (LAHS) English teacher Lori Thompson, standing at back right, and her 3A class of 27 students on a field trip Friday, Sept. 23 to visit the Los Alamos Daily Post to learn about the world of journalism and sports from the news team. Thompson is passionate about two things, literature and sports. While talking with shop teacher Scott Pomeroy and several of the LAHS coaches about how to interest students who hate English classes, the idea for her new class, Literature and Composition in Sports, was born. Thompson brought five classes of students over a two-day period to the newspaper to learn about covering sports through reporting, photography and videography.
