Monte Cristo Sandwich

Good French loaf bread
Black forest ham, sliced thin
Smoked turkey, sliced thin
Swiss cheese, slices
Smoked gouda cheese, slices
Mayonnaise
Country Dijon mustard
Ground pepper

1 tablespoon of flour
1 tablespoon of melted butter
3 eggs
Powdered sugar
Raspberry or current jam
Directions:
Slather a small amount of mayonnaise and mustard on the insides of the bread.

Photo by Sue York/ladailypost.comMix together the melted butter and flour. Add the eggs and whisk well. Dip the sandwich in the egg mixture on both sides.

Cook on a fry pan on medium low until browned. The sandwich may be so tall that you may have to use a spatula to put pressure on the top to flatten it a little bit.
Photo by Sue York/ladailypost.comOnce the underside is golden, flip it to the other side. Repeat the process. Before serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with a line of jam.
