LACES News:
From robotics to preserves and quilts, get your exhibits ready for the 2014 Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo.
If you’re into robotics here is an opportunity to exhibit your favorite robot as well as your home preserves, garden produce and those lovely quilts! The County Fair and Rodeo runs this weekend – Aug. 7-9.
Anyone living or working in Los Alamos County is eligible to enter an exhibit. Exhibit categories include: Culinary (baked items), Preserved Foods, Hobbies & Crafts, Fine Arts, Photography, Quilts, Clothing, Knitting, Crochet, Needlework, Horticulture and 4-H Projects. Age categories range from age 5 on up to seniors.
To enter your exhibits, you may bring your items to the Mesa Public Library 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7. The more entries there are, the more it contributes to everyone’s enjoyment of the fair. Who knows, maybe your exhibit will be one of the four “Best of The Best” winners!
Viewing of all exhibits for handicapped individuals begins at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 with viewing for the general public beginning at 5 p.m. and running until 8 p.m. upstairs at the Mesa Public Library. Public viewing continues Saturday with exhibits are open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. also at the Mesa Public Library.
To find out what kind of items you might wish to enter in the fair, you’ll need to have a copy of the Exhibit Entry Booklet, which lists the various categories and classes available. These are available at the Cooperative Extension Office in the Los Alamos Community Building or https:////losalamosextension.nmsu.edu/fair.html. In addition you’ll also find them at the Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library
