Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s a wonderful time to celebrate the people we love and cherish. Years ago, when I was single, one of my good friends invited me to a Valentine’s Dinner with her husband and her daughters. I asked, “Don’t you want to be alone with your husband on Valentine’s Day?” She answered, “You are a special friend and part of this family!” Her hospitality and thoughtfulness meant so much to me, and I’ll never forget it. So if you know someone who will be alone this Valentine’s Day, please reach out with kindness!

We have been very busy since the beginning of the year! There are several success stories with specialty contact lenses. I’m excited about the contact lenses that correct both distance and near, as well as those you wear overnight instead of during the day. Paragon CRT contacts also slow down the progression of myopia. We had a young girl who was afraid of contact lenses, and struggled to get them in her eye. I didn’t think contact lenses would work for her, but just a month later, she was doing very well with overnight contact lenses and was overjoyed about her clear vision during the day without glasses! Her parents are relieved to know we are doing everything possible to keep her eyes from getting worse.

We are seeing excellent results with the new Oasys Multifocal contacts, which replaces Oasys for Presbyopia. One patient remarked that she had never seen so clearly before! Davis Vision through LANL covers one years’ supply of Oasys Multifocals. We are also prescribing more Biofinity Multifocal contact lenses, which work well for computer use.

Hiring and retaining employees continues to be a challenge! If you or anyone you know is interested in joining our team, please submit a resume to our office at 800 Trinity Dr. Ste B or email lshinrecall@gmail.com. We are committed to providing excellent eye care to our community!

Sincerely,
Lisa Shin, O.D.

P.S. I am super proud of my daughter Lydia’s LAMS science bowl team winning first place in the regionals! She and her amazing team will go to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National competition in April.
