The Hawk 8th Grade Boys cross country team earned a perfect score at the Espanola Invitational last week.
Cross country is scored by adding up the overall finish places of the first 5 runners on a team, so earning a perfect score requires a team to have the first 5 overall finishers.
At the Espanola Invitational, Jevon Montoya finished the 1.72 mile course in 1st place with a time of 10:00. He was followed by Shawn Williams, Duncan Fuehne, and Elijah Velasquez finishing in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places with times of 10:13, 10:14, and 10:16, respectively. Jeremyah Palmer-Scott rounded out the top 5 with a time of 10:33.
In addition to the 8th grade boys, the 8th grade girls and 7th grade boys teams also won 1st place. The 7th grade girls finished 2nd.
