Heinrich Champions $2 Million For Roswell Air Center

U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich

U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) has announced $2 million in funding for the Roswell International Air Center as part of an ongoing effort to rehabilitate, maintain and strengthen airport operations.

In 2018, Sen. Heinrich introduced legislation that was included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2018 that allowed Roswell to become eligible for critical Military Airport Program (MAP) funding. MAP grants are for former military airfields that may be used for projects such as building or rehabilitating surface parking lots, fuel farms, hangars, utility systems, access roads and cargo buildings.

“Our local airports connect communities all across New Mexico to tourism, business opportunities and commercial aviation,” Heinrich said. “I’m pleased to announce $2 million in federal funding for Roswell International Air Center to modernize and strengthen the facility. I will continue to fight for infrastructure investments like these that build the foundation for long-term economic growth and job creation in Chaves County and across New Mexico.”
