HillStrummers Participate In Las Cruces UkeFest

COMMUNITY News:

Fourteen members of the Betty Ehardt Senior Center Hillstrummers Ukulele group and their instructor participated in the three day Las Cruces UkeFest at the Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum this past weekend along with 130 participants from various states.

Technical and performance workshops were conducted by nationally known ukulele instructors: Daniel Ward, former Los Alamos resident; Jim and Liz Beloff; Heidi Swedberg and Danielle Ate the Sandwich aka Danielle Anderson. Retired Methodist Minister Gorton Smith led a Sunday session called, “The Gospel According to Uke”. The group enjoyed playing the music of the Beatles at the closing session.

The group will perform 11:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, during lunch at the BESC. For lunch reservations, call 505.662.8924.
