CHAMBER News:

Local entrepreneur, Anesia Cope, is now the proud owner of Hilltop Spa at 1789 Central Ave #6. Cope, who worked at HIlltop Spa for over 10 years prior to the purchase, was looking for a space to call her own. She had recently completed her licensing in permanent makeup services and wanted to offer her skills to Los Alamos.

“When Tracy [Maddox] found out, she was incredibly supportive, and wanted to sell. This opportunity just kind of presented itself and we couldn’t say no,” Cope said, speaking of her previous boss and mentor, Tracy Maddox. Cope purchased the business from Maddox, and as of Sept. 20, has taken ownership of the space.

Though a public celebration will take place after the first of the year, Cope has already stepped into the role of proprietor at the now named Glisten Skin & Beauty Bar.

Glisten will continue to offer the same services as before, but will be adding a few new services in the coming months, including permanent makeup, lash extensions and more.

Along with the new services, Glisten will also begin moving away from monthly memberships, opting instead for monthly promotions and specials.

Cope said that the local business community, particularly local businesswomen, have been supportive and encouraging of her new business venture, naming Maddox, Pig + Fig Owner Laura Crucet and her parents as her biggest supporters.

“My parents believed in me enough to invest in this business, and Laura worked with me to help me figure out what I wanted to call it,” Cope said.

She said she focused on how she wanted her clients to feel as they left the spa, how they might feel at their best. The word “glisten” continued to appear, bringing life to Glisten Skin & Beauty Bar.

Glisten will continue to operate under the Hilltop Spa name through the end of the year. You can find out more about their services by calling at 505.662.1926.
