LAAC News:The Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) is gearing up for an action-packed spring filled with events.
Friday brought together 35 New Mexican artists for the grand opening of “Art and Nature” at Fuller Lodge Art Center. Celebrating Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s 25th anniversary and highlighting everything nature, the show runs through May 16.
Also, artist Donna Foley’s standalone exhibit, “Mountain and Desert Meditations” is on display through May 2 in the portal gallery at Fuller Lodge Art Center.
National Theater Live at SALA returns April 17 as part of a year-long sponsorship by LAACl. This month brings Fleabag featuring Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one actor play to the cinema screen. Discounted tickets are available for this show using code: FLEAARTS25 and free to SALA members.
The community is invited to build and fly kites at the 2025 Kite Festival, April 26-27 at Overlook Park in White Rock. The festival is celebrating its 29th year and thanks Enterprise Bank & Trust for its sponsorship all 29 years and also thanks year-round sponsor, Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District for consistent support of this event.
LAAC also announces a new event, the Pajarito Literary Festival, which will be held May 10-11and is brought together by the efforts of LAAC and Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse. This event is sponsored in part by a grant from the New Mexico Creative Industries and will boast activities including engagements from 11 authors from around the globe. Weekend passes are on sale now and VIPs will have access to extra events throughout the weekend ranging from beer tastings at Bathtub Row Brewing Cooperative and tea tastings at Samizdat.
This event coincides with LAAC’s annual Spring Craft Fair, which will bring in more than 100 vendors, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10 on the Fuller Lodge lawn. As always this event is free to the public and just in time for Mother’s Day weekend.
