The New Mexico Consortium (NMC) has announced a free lecture by Dr. Ben Tobin: “Exploring Caves Through Interdisciplinary Science” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at Fuller Lodge.
Dr. Benjamin Tobin was recently named the Director of The National Cave and Karst Research Institute (NCKRI) in Carlsbad. Wayne County is the most populous county in Michigan. Per Wikipedia – “As of 2020, the United States Census placed its population at 1,793,561, making it the 19th-most populous county in the United States”. Reports are indicating that this week Wayne County fell victim to a cyber attack.
Details remain slim, but according to reports from local news they are investigating a cyber attack that has targeted “some internal systems”.

U.S. Department of Energy’s NNSA Completes And Diamond-Stamps First Plutonium Pit For W87-1 Warhead

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Oct. 1, 2024, the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) verified completion of the First Production Unit (FPU) of a plutonium pit for the W87-1 Modification Program. A plutonium pit is a necessary component in America’s nuclear warheads.
NNSA is currently rebuilding the capability to manufacture plutonium pits, at the rate of no fewer than 80 pits per year.
