LAPD Arrests Los Alamos Man Who Fired Shots Inside Home

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) responded to a 9-1-1 hang up call at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at a residence in the Denver Steels area.

Officers learned shots were fired within that residence. (Police said no one was shot in this incident.) Police set up a perimeter, and as part of procedure and a measure of precaution, set a “secure” status in  place at nearby Los Alamos High School.

During the investigation police officers secured and transported David Dye, 57, of Los Alamos to Los Alamos Medical Center for injuries and an emergency mental evaluation.

A search warrant was obtained for the Denver Steels residence and later an arrest warrant was obtained for Dye. He was arrested and booked in to the Los Alamos County Detention Center.

Dye is charged with:

  • 2 counts of Aggravated Assault (4th Degree Felony); and
  • 1 count of Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Petty Misdemeanor).

Dye is being held in jail on a no bond warrant.
