Although members of the jazz band and jazz orchestra weren’t able to travel to the Hummingbird Music Camp in the Jemez Mountains this year, music teachers brought Hummingbird to Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS).

LAMS music teacher Ryan Finn conducted the Jazz Orchestra, while Will Finn led the Jazz Band.

“The students did a fantastic job and worked hard to hone their skills,” Finn said. “They were a little disappointed that we didn’t get to go to the Hummingbird Camp, but this was a good alternative to not having this experience.”

More than 50 jazz band and orchestra students rehearsed together and attended sectionals throughout the day last Friday. Both groups then performed for classmates during 4th period. The performances were live streamed to classrooms at LAMS.
