LAPS News:

The Los Alamos Public School District has announced a new online student registration system for the 2016-17 school year.

Parents will see a reduction in the number of paper forms to be completed and an increase in information security. The system will be used beginning with Kindergarten Roundup scheduled for April 6.

For all students in grades 1-12, online registration will begin Monday, Aug. 1. The first day of school is Aug. 18.

All parents will have the option of using the new system, called InfoSnap. With improved security, parents will be able to verify demographic, emergency, and medical information. InfoSnap will interface directly with the LAPS student information system, PowerSchool. There also will be an online version of Athletics registration for middle school and high school students. This new system will replace most of the hard copy student registration and permission forms that each child brings home on the first day of school.

For parents who do not have access to the Internet, a school computer will be available. Paper forms also will be available for parents who do not wish to use the online registration process.

When it is time to fill out the online form, parents will receive a letter or email from the Los Alamos school district or their student’s school with instructions on how to access the system for their student. The email will contain a link, instructions, and a secure “snapcode” that connects directly to the student’s information. To make the process easier for families with multiple students, parents will have the option of copying all family-level information to all other students in their family.
