LAPS News:

Navigating the effects of a global pandemic has taken a toll on everyone – students, staff, families and community members.

Now more than ever Los Alamos Public Schools  (LAPS) recognizes the importance of strengthening coping skills and networks of support and being aware of possible risks facing youth today.

LAPS is hosting an opportunity for parents and caregivers of students in middle and high school to discuss these important topics and resources for meeting these challenges teens are facing.

This informational session is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 in the Speech Theater at Los Alamos High School. Some of the concerns to be covered include mental health challenges, problematic substance use, lack of sleep, managing technology, as well as proven strategies for finding balance and good health.

In addition, participants also will hear more about how students can use the anonymous “See Something, Say Something” app to help keep their school and community safe.

WHEN:

  • 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13

WHERE:

  • Los Alamos High School Speech Theater (next to auxiliary gym)
