LACF News:

Los Alamos Retirement Community (LARC) and the Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) have teamed to initiate a permanent endowment fund to support the long-term financial health of nursing and assisted living options in Los Alamos.

LARC is an independent, not-for-profit community organization that manages the Sombrillo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as Aspen Ridge Lodge — an assisted living facility overlooking Pueblo Canyon.

“We created the LARC Endowment Fund to help keep Sombrillo and Aspen Ridge Lodge available as high-quality care options for our residents to remain in the community they love,” LARC Board Chair Gillian Sutton said. “Many of us have had family members who have received loving care from these facilities and by donating to this endowment fund we can ensure there remain high-quality care options when nursing care and rehabilitation is needed.”

LARC seeded the effort with $10,000 in internal funds and seeks to further grow the fund to provide consistent financial support for operational and capital needs. Funds are invested and draw investment income while preserving and growing the endowment corpus into the future.

LACF was created in 2015 to promote development of permanent, prudently invested funds to support local organizations such as LARC, as well as to provide local philanthropically-minded residents opportunities to make a permanent impact in support of Los Alamos nonprofits.

Information about making contributions to the LARC Endowment Fund can be found at losalamoscf.org/index.php/donate/. If donating by check, write “LARC Endowment Fund” in the check memo field.

Additional questions on ways to give to the fund can be directed to LACF Executive Director Rachel Kizielewicz at rachel@losalamoscf.org or 505.661.4420.
