League Lunch With A Leader: Skolnik And Massaro March 18

The League of Women Voters monthly Lunch with a Leader features health experts Richard Skolnik and Thomas Massaro, MD, discussing COVID-19.

This month’s virtual presentation is noon Thursday, March 18.

Skolnik of Los Alamos will present information on the virus from a global perspective and a path forward to stop this pandemic. He has more than 40 years of experience in international development and Global Health. Skolnik spent 25 years at the World Bank. After leaving the World Bank, he served as vice president for International Programs and director of the Center for Global Health at The George Washington University, where he taught undergraduate global health courses for eight years.

Skolnik served two years as executive director of the Harvard program for AIDS and also was deeply involved in the establishment of STOP TB. He carried out substantial work with the Results for Development Institute (R4D), focusing on reviews of the financing of HIV. He served on the editorial advisory body for the Third Edition of Disease Control Priorities in the Developing World (DCP3) and the third edition of Millions Saved.

Massaro will discuss and answer questions about various aspects of COVID, how it can affect children, and the safe return to school. He also will present an update on the virus in New Mexico and status of winning the fight.

Massaro, MD, is a State School Health Officer whose specialty is pediatrics. He works with the New Mexico Public Education Department and maintains a private practice as a pediatrician in Santa Fe. Massaro will be ready to answer questions about COVID from those attending Thursday’s event.
