League Of Women Voters Of Los Alamos Hosts Candidate Forum On Zoom 7-9 P.M. Wednesday Oct. 6

LWV News:

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos (LWV) will present the Candidate Forum for Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Board of Education and UNM-LA Advisory Board 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 via Zoom.

Acting LAPS Superintendent Jennifer Guy will explain the mill levy question.

Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas will speak briefly about how this election will be conducted. Early in-person voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the County Municipal Building.

School Board Candidates Participating In LWV Forum:

  • District 1 – Ellen Specter;
  • District 2 – Antonio Jaurigue and Stephen Boerigter;
  • District 4 – Melanie Colgan and Rick Mooday; and
  • Distict 5 – Erin Green.

District 2 candidate Paul Jaramillo and District 5 candidate Nickole Aguilar Garcia are unable to attend. They have been invited to submit a written statement to be read at the Forum.

UNM-LA Advisory Board Candidates:

Position 1 – Alissa Grissom and Chris Luchini (Position;

Position 2 – Charlotte Woodring, Lee Weinland and Charles McCullough; and

Position 5 – David Hanson and David Hampton.

The Los Alamos Public School Board elections are divided into five voting districts, although only four districts have openings this year. Voters only choose board members from their own district.
