Letter To The Editor: Beautiful Segler Painting On APPB Agenda This Thursday June 27!

Dear citizens of Los Alamos,

Just found out the purchase of the beautiful 24”x30” painting, “The Boys of Pajarito Plateau” by artist Jeff Segler will be discussed at the Art in Public Places Advisory Board (APPB) at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday in Room 110 at the Municipal Building.

This has been brought before the County Council off and on for years! Council members say they need the approval of this board, whose 4-5 members cannot decide. Even though it “captures a part of our history for future generations” (from the APPB mission statement).

I encourage all citizens of Los Alamos to show up this Thursday, you don’t have to speak, your presence will say a lot. Or at least email the APPB and the County Council.

This is it folks, it’s our last chance to acquire this wonderful painting and bring it home where it belongs!

Jeff Segler is the official artist for the Boy Scouts of America, third after Norman Rockwell. He is a well-known artist who used to live in our midst but now resides in Cimmaron, N.M.

For more information, Jeff Segler has provided the APPB a timeline showing the history of his painting. Go online to see the agenda for this meeting and see Jeff’s timeline!

Thank you for caring!
