Letter To The Editor: How Good Is Air Quality In LAPS Schools?

How good is the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) of our LAPS schools?

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the Barranca Elementary School apparently set a red flag on the IAQ issue.

You might have noticed that Barranca Elementary has just moved into a new construction. These new energy efficiency buildings are often built at the cost of lacking adequate natural ventilation.

Whether it is a major factor to the recent outbreak at the Barranca Elementary remains to be looked into, it is important that LAPS take the IAQ issue as a top priority on a regular system-wide basis as we continue to fight the pandemic.
