A fews years ago, my daughter came home excited because they installed bulletproof glass at Kearny Elementary, and it would be safer if an active shooter came to the campus. Really, is gun violence what we want our kids to be worrying about as they go to school? For this reason, I am a member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Let’s do what we can and close the loopholes and reduce violence in our state!
Eighty seven percent of New Mexico residents — including 84 percent of New Mexico gun owners — support requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales. I am appealing to Speaker Brian Egolf and Senate Leader Peter Wirth to bring legislation requiring a background check for all gun sales to the floor for a vote. You are both strong legislators and can make this happen this legislative session! We believe in you!
