Letter To The Editor: It’s The Right Thing To Do – Vote Yes For Rec Bond

I have had the honor of serving the Los Alamos community as a dental health care provider for the last 18 years. I have witnessed time and time again how our community comes together to solve the challenges which affect our small town. Another opportunity has presented itself for us to improve the quality of life for our community and we should be generous, selfless, and forward-thinking in our response.

I hope that we can work past the “I won’t use those facilities, so I’m not going to support a tax increase” attitudes and think of what your $20 per month tax increase will mean for the future of Los Alamos. This decision will affect the vitality of our town as we attempt to attract “the best and the brightest” and their families to Los Alamos.

As I visit other similar-sized towns across the country, I am amazed that for such a wealthy town we have a real lack of facilities for sports and activities. Many of the existing “facilities” are in serious need of improvement. Quite frankly, our children and the entire community deserves better.

This is our chance to make it right. Vote Yes for the Rec Bond in May. It’s the right thing to do.
