Letter to the Editor: JPEC Data Convinces Me To Support Judge Raphaelson

Thanks to Karen Mehlin and Khalil Spencer for providing links to the NM Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission (JPEC).

I found the data on the JPEC website (https:////www.nmjpec.org/en)  to be of interest, particularly when I reviewed, in full, the perspectives of the various subgroups.

Attorneys were split in their recommendations to retain Judge Raphaelson. Resource Staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation and parole officers, etc.) were 78 percent in favor of her retention while JPEC judges did not recommend retention.

Jurors like me, with whom I most strongly identify, indicated at 92 percent or above, that Judge Raphaelson exhibits integrity and is fair and impartial. They also found her communication to be clear, her demeanor appropriate, and her proceedings properly controlled.

Based on these facts, I support the retention of Judge Sheri Raphaelson.
