“Does the golf course make over benefit anyone other than golfers? A large portion of the community is against this, and it will only benefit a small portion of our population.” (link)
I doubt John Roberts knows that the first portion is “large”. He clearly does not know that many businesses in town will benefit from increased traffic associated with golfers choosing to come here to play on an improved course.
I doubt John Roberts knows that the second portion is “small”. But surely the County can respond by pointing to the (consultant or county) analysis that supports their decision. And if Roberts doesn’t believe that analysis, he needs to do the work of finding evidence to the contrary, not just providing opinions and guesstimates.
His post sounds to me just like the “I don’t know anyone who voted for <fill-in-the-blank>” complaints about elections.
