By ANGELA SANCHEZ-POPEDear Abandoned Senior Project Supporters, WCSS Group of United Church of Los Alamos, Fr. Glenn Jones and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and Rev. Laurie Triplett of Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church:
This letter is to thank you personally for all your help during the 10-year tenure of the abandoned senior project. This project is very difficult and very worthy as it supports several seniors who would not otherwise have any help with clothing and toiletries during the Christmas holidays.
I especially thank the volunteers of the United Church thrift store for their willingness to help with this project. The WCSS volunteers sort out the gently used appropriate clothing that will be suitable for a Christmas present and save it for me. I augment this clothing with new or nearly new pajamas and new socks and underwear. Without their help this project would not be able to provide high quality gifts.
The rest of the support goes to buy boxes of toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotions, soaps and baskets to finish the Christmas presents. The IHM youth group assemble the baskets and wrap presents and they are sent to the recipients.
Thank you again for your support with this project. I look forward to another successful year with continued support. This year we provided gifts for 60 residents. Last year it was 70 residents.
If anyone wishes to drop off good washable clothing suitable for seniors (such as a warm pantsuits or washable sweaters and sweatshirts, the new pjs you will never wear etc., you may drop off these items either at the Boomerang Boutique and mention it’s for abandoned seniors or the United Church.
