By ABE DISPENNETTEThe issues and frustrations of small business owners here in town are both well know and well documented. Bottom line, this town does have its unique challenges to be successful, but too often I feel that business owners are so busy putting out the fires in our own businesses that we forget to look up and acknowledge when others of us are doing fantastic jobs around us.
This past week I went to beg Ruby K’s Bagels for a discount on some of her treats for a local fundraising event. Ruby not only provided beyond what was asked, but she provided them for FREE.
In my opinion, what makes a great community is when everyday people do the small things great every day – and too often those things go unnoticed to the general public. It did not sit right with me when her gift was not mentioned at the event and wanted to use this venue to let everyone know, probably what they knew already about the owner of this local business.
Ruby thank you for teaching me to be grateful and to always be willing to give out of my abundance. You’re a such a perfect example of what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur in this town.
