By PETE SHEEHEYI attended the recent National Nuclear Security Administration Supply Chain Management Center (NNSA SCMC) Small Business Information Meeting (see Roger Snodgrass article “Small Business Pow-Wow…”).
I want to thank Senator Heinrich for his efforts to make this meeting happen, in response to concerns of many constituents about SCMC contracts potentially taking business and jobs away from New Mexico.
At the meeting, many local business people were able to talk with SCMC and other government officials about the details of contracting with the government. The meeting was an important first step in insuring that New Mexico businesses get a fair chance to compete.
I look forward to continuing work on these issues with Senator Heinrich, the rest of the New Mexico Congressional delegation, the Los Alamos County Council, the Regional Development Corporation, and the Energy Communities Alliance.
