Pastor Granillo: Life After, or Before, Death?

By Pastor Raul Granillo
Los Alamos

“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men” (1 Corinthians 15:19 NIV).

There are, and have always seemed to have been, those who think that the concept of a god is nice for establishing morals in society but it really serves no other purpose. There are some think that religion has outgrown its usefulness and is only a source of ignorance and intolerance. Today, there are a great number of people who believe that Jesus was a great moral teacher, but nothing more; and most certainly not a god nor the only real God.

Solo Traveler: Big Mistakes

Solo Traveler
By SHERRY HARDAGE
Big Mistakes

When I look back on the last five years of traveling I find that I now make fewer mistakes. It’s helpful to think about what the worst mistakes were and what I started doing differently as a result.

The Biggest Mistake of All – Too Much Stuff

On a three-month trip to Europe I took summer clothes, plenty of warmer clothes for fall, and a heavy winter jacket because I would be in Turkey and Italy in December. I packed hiking boots, shoes, sandals, a pair of dressy shoes and a nice dinner dress. I had enough underwear for two weeks and a small backpack with all the stuff Read More

How The Hen House Turns: A Book Review

How the Hen House Turns
By CAROLYN (CARY) NEEPER Ph.D.
A Book Review

This is a review of “He Saw A Hummingbird” by Norma Lee Browning and Russell Ogg, Midland, Mich. Northwood Institute Press, 1978.

A patient and insightful wife guides her husband through the loss of his ability to see—all but the flash of color from the hummingbirds that come to their feeders.

The wife’s personal story, told in this book, is a guide and an inspiration for us all, as is his recovery from despair and his persistence and attention to detail that enable him to produce artistic photographs of the tiny birds he loves.

It seems as if we are constantly working in order to pursue happiness, and as Read More
