The Strong Women and Men Program will be offered in Los Alamos this winter. The program is a research based strength training program for women and men 50 years of age and older.

Los Alamos Beer Co-op Completes Crowdfunding

The Los Alamos Beer Cooperative successfully completed a crowdfunding project Dec. 25 that raised more than $2,000 through MainStreetCrowd. The Beer Co-op is moving forward in establishing a brewery and taproom for the community to gather and enjoy great, locally handcrafted beer. The money generated through MainStreetCrowd will go toward purchasing brewery equipment.

Solo Traveler: When Lies Lead to TourismThere is a beautiful little town in Sinaloa, Mexico, called El Fuerte, “The Fort.” Situated on top of the tallest bluff along the river, the fort overlooks a forested wildlife preserve on the other side.
It is an old city, the birthplace of Don Diego de la Vega, known as the hero, Zorro. His wealthy parents moved, shortly after his birth, to the Los Angeles area of California, which was still part of Mexico.

No RTD Blue Bus Service Christmas or New Year’s Day

The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) has announced that the RTD “Blue Buses” will not be in service on Wednesday, Dec.25 and Wednesday, Jan.1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays respectively.
NCRTD regularly scheduled bus service throughout north central New Mexico including Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe and Taos Counties will run as normal on the days preceding and following each of the holidays.

Los Alamos Taxi: A Solution for Holiday Transportation Needs

Visitors and locals without a car, as well as those that don’t drive used to be in a bind in Los Alamos. There’s no bus service or other transportation available after 7 p.m. or on weekends. Non-drivers who need to leave the Hill to catch a plane or train were also facing a problem. Enter Los Alamos native Cindy Capelli and Los Alamos Taxi. Capelli, who also owns New Mexico Wine Tours, started Los Alamos Taxi a year ago to meet these needs.

Solstice Gathering at Unitarian Church Saturday

The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos will hold its annual Solstice Gathering at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 in the church parking lot. The outdoor ritual is for all ages and open to all faith traditions.
