It is an honor indicating a place of exceptional beauty, historical significance, and tourist opportunities that provide a “magical” experience.
Most of them are colonial cities, built during the first 150 years of Spanish occupation. Some, like San Cristóbal de las Casas and Comitán de Domíngues in Chiapas, were founded a mere 50 years after Cortes invaded Mexico.

Perch Paperie Offers Summer Classes

Perch Paperie is offering many summer classes for adults, kids and teens.
Suzanne McNeil from Design Originals, author of many Zentangle books and a certified instructor, will be teaching two classes June 5 and spending the day at The Perch.
Once school lets out, kid’s classes are twice a week, 1-2 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays.
Preschool classes will be 10-10:30 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday.
No pre-registration required, but classes are on a first come, first serve basis.

PEEC is offering Hiking Los Alamos 101. The class will meet 6-8 p.m. Mondays June 3-24.
This first session will take place in the PEEC classroom, where expert hiker Craig Martin will go over safety and comfort on the trail. He also will teach map-reading skills. After that, the group will meet at various trails for hikes.
Martin and others will be hike leaders, with interpreters from PEEC for hikes and a “last in line” person from the County Recreation Department.

- 1 cup chopped (sm) celery
- 3/4 stick butter
- 1 pound peeled and deveined shrimp
- 1 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 1 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt free Cajun seasoning
- 2 teaspoon Cajun power garlic sauce ****(I get mine on the Internet. I use it for this dish and meatloaf, hamburgers. If you don’t get this, use 2 teaspoons of vinegar and one more cloves of garlic and 1 extra teaspoon salt
