To really appreciate the minor, 8-day Jewish holiday that begins this year on December 7th at sundown, it helps to have a sinus infection. In Hebrew, there’s no ambiguity about the spelling of this eight-day celebration of a victory by Jews over the Greeks who had defiled the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem – it’s חֲנוּכָּה. NMSP Remind Truck Drivers To Drive In Right Lane
NMSP News:
The New Mexico State Police would like to remind drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) of the new law passed in July of 2023 regarding driving in the right lane. New Mexico Senate Bill 102, Section 1. 66-7-376 NMSA 1978, a truck tractor shall not be driven in the left lane of a roadway except under provisions as outlined by the bill.
Failure to obey could result in a penalty assessment of two hundred fifty dollars ($250) for the first and second offenses and five hundred dollars ($500) for the third offense.

State Police (NMSP) will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols; and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during December 2023.

Traffic Alert UPDATE: N.M. 502/N.M. 4 Westbound Now Open At Totavi Hill
Los Alamos County has announced that N.M. 502/N.M. 4 westbound, which was closed by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) at Totavi Hill near the Tewa Gas Station earlier this morning due to inclement weather is now reopened.
NMDOT was able to make two passes of sand. Use extreme caution, as there are several unattended vehicles on the shoulder. Motorists should stay in the sanded travel lanes. ALL travel is heavily discouraged until conditions improve.

As Los Alamos County braces for a winter storm forecast to begin this evening, Nov. 29, the Los Alamos Police Department is urging motorists to use caution when traveling in winter weather.
LAPD Urges Motorists To Follow These Tips:
- Decrease your speed – Speed is a leading factor among winter crashes.
- Increase the distance between you and the next vehicle – Additional distance will allow for the extra time needed to stop.
- Check the tread on your tires – Good tire tread should be 6/32 or deeper. Consider replacing older tires or rotating your tires.
