Los Alamos Chamber Of Commerce Announces Incoming Director Sandy Jones To Take The Helm In August

Incoming Chamber Director Sandy Jones

CHAMBER News:

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce has announced the hiring of Sandy Jones as the new Chamber Director upon the retirement of Ryn Herrmann in August.

Jones worked as the New Mexico Small Business Development Center Director, and brings experience working with small businesses in Los Alamos, Cuba, Jemez Springs and Española. Jones has also been an enthusiastic participant in numerous Chamber and regional economic activities.

She began her career in R&D, as a bench chemical technician, and was part of a team that patented ink for ink jet printers in the 1980’s. She worked her way through college to complete her degree in Business Administration, and worked in utility emergency operations management, accounting management, automobile manufacturing, data center network and computer operations management, e-commerce management and software engineering. After living in five different states, she said New Mexico has become her favorite.

Jones is one of the founders of the Los Alamos Film and Culture Festival and president of its board. She is also the Secretary of the Board for United Way of Northern New Mexico and serves on the Los Alamos County Art in Public Places Board.

Arriving in Los Alamos in February of 2022, Jones and her husband Fred have enjoyed getting to know and serve the community of Los Alamos. They relocated from Nashville, Tenn., for work at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Jones said she has enjoyed being part of the New Mexico Small Business Development Center network, and honored to work with the clients who placed their trust in her.

“Being part of the UNM-LA campus staff has been a distinct pleasure,” Jones said. “I believe UNM-LA is of great importance to the community and I look forward to supporting it now and into the future.”

Jones said she plans to continue the excellent work of Ryn Herrmann and is looking forward to getting to know more Chamber members and how best to serve them.

Jones said she is enthusiastic about working with the distinguished Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation (LACDC) team and with Los Alamos County personnel in her new role.
